RavenThross is a dark folk rock project conjured in the shadow of the full moon — a voice for everything we are quietly losing. Where most folk music looks back into a romantic past, RavenThross stares straight ahead: into the burning forests, the drying rivers, the cobalt mines, and the marble halls where empires are still being sold by the hour. This is folk in its oldest function — not nostalgia, but a voice that accuses, remembers, and carries hope when the official voices fail. THE VOICES At the heart of the project stand two hooded figures, never unmasked: - THE FIDDLER — the weathered male baritone who tells the tale, bow drawn across an ancient fiddle, the witness who has seen it all. - THE WRAITH — the haunting female voice that carries the grief of the dying world. Spectral, mournful, present in nearly every song, she is the voice of the earth itself, of the lost, of the unheard. Around them gathers The Circle — the ritual ensemble of fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, hammered dulcimer, bodhrán and flute, playing by the light of an unseen fire in moonlit ruins. THE SOUND Dark folk, pagan folk, gothic Americana and Celtic traditions converge — somewhere between Wovenhand, Wardruna, Heilung, Faun and Nick Cave. Sparse and cinematic, mournful and defiant. THE WORK Two EPs form the spine of the project. THE LAST FOREST is the ecological reckoning — nine songs about climate grief, from mourning ballads to defiant anthems. BONES OF EMPIRE extends the indictment to social and geopolitical injustice — cobalt children, oil wars, refugee walls, and the cost of power. The live album LIVE: ASHES AND EMPIRE merges both into a single ritual evening, recorded in the ruins of Schloss Ravenstein on Beltane Night. RavenThross does not soothe. It is music for those who feel that something is ending — and who know that this is exactly why someone must sing. Two EPs. One wound. Two voices in the moonlight.
